The Rescue Mission of Trenton, an over 100 year old agency providing housing and substance use disorder treatment services, brought Dr. Vernig in to provide a full-day training for their clinical and paraprofessional staff. He covered major forms of mental illness, with a focus on identifying and managing symptoms in residential settings. The training included real-world examples of how such illness impacts individuals in treatment.

The Rescue Mission had Dr. Vernig return for a second, day-long training for their clinical staff. He presented a comprehensive guide for the identification and management of trauma in a setting serving housing-insecure adults with substance use disorder. Dr. Vernig also discussed the application of Trauma-Informed principles in an agency setting providing residential services.
